“A dingo ate my baby!!”

I’m going to apologize now for the lame-o blog post by whining about having to finish edits for Dreaming of You and the fact that I’ve been trying to finish up my third book.  Excuses…I know!!  Bad author blogger boy…bad!!  Consider myself virtually spanked.

In all actuality, I had Friday May 7th written down on the post-it as my day to blog.  Since that date doesn’t actually exist, it was shear luck I pulled up the website to check out what’s been going on.   If it makes you feel any better I really have been writing away like a little demon.  So while I’ve dropped the ball here…I have been using my time to come up with classically witty gems like:

“It always baffled me that as much as I loved to suck balls…I sure as fuck couldn’t seem to catch one.”

My second book, Dreaming of You, is a romance bent with my style of humor.  It’s more about the shenanigans your over-active and somewhat loopy imagination can get you into.  As I sit here thinking about the fact that my second book will be available for public consumption in mere days (May 12), I also wonder what is/isn’t healthy in terms of nerves on my part.  I’m sure there are plenty of authors out there who can help me out with this one.  I consider myself lucky as all hell thus far when it comes to reader response with Self Preservation.  I keep waiting for the other ruby slipper to drop.  It’s been awesome…like a really freakin’ great first date.

Gearing myself up for the promo-onslaught of date number two, I wonder what reader expectations are like.  I have no experience of my own to look back on, so I find myself feeling all virginy once again.  I’m still a little ‘shiny and newbie’ after all…I even have a lingering bit of that newbie-author smell.  For the author, this is pretty much a ‘learn as you go’ business, and thus far I’ve really enjoyed the ride.
